Petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased by 0.8¢ to 120.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending December 4, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 1¢ to 119.3¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 0.4¢ to 124.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the NT at 128.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (126.3¢), Victoria (125.8¢), WA (124.7¢), Queensland (119.9¢), NSW/ACT (118.7¢), and SA (109.6¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 106.3¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (113¢), Brisbane (117.2¢), Perth (123.3¢), Hobart (126.4¢), Melbourne (127.1¢), Canberra (128.6¢), and Darwin (129.6¢).
