Payment in the palm of your hand

Australia’s first-ever autonomous smart store, quiXmart, has launched in Australia, after the innovative technology was showcased for the first time at Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Sydney this week.

The quiXmart retail pods are promoted as making shopping “fast, fun and convenient” for consumers, enabling both cashless and cardless shopping through use of shoppers’ unique palm print.

Shoppers scan their hands to enter a quiXmart pod and, once inside, camera tracking and biometrics monitor what they pick up and place in their bag. At check-out, cameras scan the selected items and, at the touch of a button, the AI system seamlessly calculates the total item value, charges the shopper’s account and opens the pod door – all within seconds.

“We’re thrilled to be launching into Australia and providing shoppers with such a new and innovative way of shopping,” QuiXmart Australia Australian Director Kenny Chen said. “Our technology will shake up the retail industry and shape the future of shopping.”

QuiXmart is in discussions with potential retail partners to launch the first branded pods.
