Petrol Price Update

The average price of unleaded petrol decreased 3.8¢ to 136.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending December 7, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 4.9¢ to 132.6¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 1.5¢ to 143.6¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was found in the NT at 156.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (149.2¢), Queensland (139.8¢), NSW/ACT (137.6¢), WA (137¢), SA (135.8¢), and Victoria (129.6¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 126.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (132.3¢), Perth (133.5¢), Adelaide (133.8¢), Brisbane (136.8¢), Canberra (148.8¢), Hobart (147.7¢) and Darwin (152.6¢).
