Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia increased to 137.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 14, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price increased 1.2¢ to 136.7¢ a litre, with the regional price up 0.3¢ to 139.6¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 156.8¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (146.6¢), NSW/ACT (142.5¢), Western Australia (138.3¢), South Australia (137.5¢), Queensland (134.2¢) and Victoria (132.6¢).

Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 131.4¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (131.5¢), Adelaide (137.5¢), Perth (137.6¢), Sydney (143.4¢), Hobart (146.2¢), Canberra (148.7¢) and Darwin (150.4¢).
