Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose to 139.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 1, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 6.1¢ to 140¢ a litre, with the regional price up 2¢ to 138.3¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 155.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (146.8¢), Victoria (144.5¢), Queensland (144.3¢), South Australia (141.4¢), WA (137.4¢), and NSW/ACT (131.8¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 127.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (136¢), Adelaide (143¢), Hobart (146¢), Melbourne (146.4¢), Brisbane (147¢), Canberra (148¢) and Darwin (148.4¢).
